2020 continues to challenge organizations, and SCAHCE has been no exception to the outfall of the pandemic.
After first planning a return to Charleston, always a popular site for the SCAHCE conference, your SCAHCE Board decided, due to the constraints produced by COVID-19, to host a free, virtual, professional development workshop to members in lieu of our annual conference. However, we did not have sufficient interest in that event to warrant offering it, and we realize that a virtual event just does not do justice to the networking opportunities and chances to see familiar friends that the annual SCAHCE conference provides.
As such, the Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the professional development workshop and to postpone our annual conference until 2021. Although we feel this decision is necessary, it was not an easy decision to come to. The SCAHCE Board feels that the safety of our members and our participants are of the utmost importance; and providing a quality conference, whether in-person or virtual, is vitally important to our group.
I want to especially thank those that did register for the event, our planned presenters, and the sponsors/vendors who were willing to participate. The SCAHCE Board will be reaching out to these individuals soon to with a small token of our appreciation.
Please lookout for the SCAHCE conference to return next October, and keep in mind that we have several positions open on our Board that need to be filled. Serving on the SCHACE Board makes a great resume addition, and provides lots of opportunities to make professional connections that can help you in your career.
Best wishes for the remainder of 2020!
Lauren S. Holland
2020 SCAHCE President
